Hello!! I have congenital hearing loss and have worn hearing aids for most of my life. I cannot imagine how different things would be for me if I did not have access to speech and verbal communication.
While working in the audiology department of Lurie Children’s Hospital, I have interacted with diverse patients and assist them with hearing tests. The number of kiddos out there that have hearing loss continues to surprise me. I truly am honored to play a part in each patient’s hearing care.
Lurie Children’s is Illinois’ largest provider of audiology services to diagnose and manage pediatric hearing loss. Our state-of-the-art behavioral test methods and auditory brainstem response (ABR) program are available to provide primary diagnoses and second opinions. We specialize in newborn hearing screening, behavioral hearing evaluations and fitting of amplification for infants and children. We dispense hearing aids to children funded by Illinois Early Intervention. Our loaner hearing aid bank allows us to fit children rapidly and keep them hearing when repairs are needed.
Hearing Loss Association of America’s (HLAA) Walk4Hearing is a nationwide campaign that brings hope to people with hearing loss in 20 cities, joining them in their communities to raise awareness and show support. Teams of family and friends join with HLAA Chapters and nonprofit business partners to raise funds for local programs and promote hearing health.
Your support with a donation will help me bring empowerment to our community!
