I am walking again in 2022! This is now my 16th year in the Walk4Hearing! Over a decade of walking for Hearing Loss Association of America and the HLAA Boulder Chapter!
Hearing Loss Association of America has made a positive impact on my life as a person with lifelong hearing loss. Through this organization, I have gained self confidence that has allowed me to participate as a leader in this and other organizations. I fully support Hearing Loss Association of America because without this organization, there would not be the technology and supports available for people who want to participate in the hearing world and hear the best they can with the technology that is available to them.
Here are some of the technologies that are available because of the wonderful advocacy that has been done by HLAA.
I have wonderful digital hearing aids that allow me to hear through both ears to use my cell phone directly via bluetooth, and my hearing aids allow me to participate in dance classes as well!
My son plays 1930's/40's style swing music, and I was introduced to the world of dancing through watching him play. My hearing loss still affects my ability to hear the beat in the more complicated songs, but the more I practice, the better I do. I have performed many different styles of ballroom dance, and am admittedly addicted to Lindy Hop and all of its related styles. I have been a dance teacher assistant for several years, and even substitute teach as needed! Covid-19 has presented challenges this year, where we are not able to dance in person, but instead can dance together through the power of virtual online zoom classes. I love MY BLUETOOTH hearing aids! I don't have to wear a bunch of devices anymore!
I can't say enough about this wonderful organization, or the technology that has allowed me to overcome my shyness of participating in a group activity. I would love to have you walk virtually with me. Please consider joining our HLAA Boulder Chapter team and raise funds to support our organization, and your donation will help us to make an impact in our communities! Please take a moment to support us!
Thank you!! Debbie
Did you know?
The Walk4Hearing is the only nationwide event bringing attention to hearing loss and promoting the importance of hearing health. Funds raised support HLAA’s national awareness and education programs, HLAA Chapters and State Associations, and alliance organizations who help extend HLAA’s mission into local communities. Part of Your donation to my personal page will stay here in Colorado to support our HLAA Boulder Chapter!
The Walk4Hearing is about sharing an experience, learning from each other, making memories, and taking the first step toward better hearing health. Participating in the Walk means joining thousands of people across the country and right in our neighborhoods who understand what it’s like to live with hearing loss.
Did you know that one in seven Americans are living with some degree of hearing loss? Hearing is an important part of overall health and the Walk4Hearing calls on all of us to take action. By being active, engaged, and making hearing health a priority, people with hearing loss can live well. Let’s Hear Now and Be Well Together.
It all starts right here in my own community with generous people like you, who are willing to step up and support me.
Can I count on you?
