Hello! My name is Lanayah and I am 14 years old. I wear cochlear implants to hear because I am deaf. I have had them since I was about 2 years old. I use spoken language but I also use some sign language at home with my family.
The walk4hearing is very special to me because I get to spread awareness about what it’s like to be deaf and use cochlear implants. I also get to spend time with other people and friends who also have hearing loss. It’s a day where we all come together and celebrate what makes us unique and also raise money for organizations who help people with hearing loss! Please consider donating to a great cause that my family loves!!
Did you know that one in seven Americans are living with hearing loss?
Walk4Hearing is the only nationwide event bringing attention to hearing loss and promoting the importance of hearing health. Hearing is an important part of overall health and Walk4Hearing calls on all of us to take action. By being active, engaged, and making hearing health a priority, people with hearing loss can live well.
Why I’m Stepping Up for Hearing Health
Walk4Hearing is about raising awareness, sharing an experience, connecting with the community and taking the first step toward better hearing health. Participating in the Walk means joining thousands of people across the country and right in our neighborhoods who understand what it’s like to live with hearing loss.
Can I count on you to step up for hearing health?
With your help, we will empower people to live well by providing vital resources, information, programs and support services. Funds raised support HLAA, HLAA Chapters and State Organizations, and alliances who extend HLAA’s mission into local communities.
