The Walk4Hearing is the only nationwide event bringing attention to hearing loss and promoting the importance of hearing health. Funds raised support HLAA’s national awareness and education programs, HLAA Chapters and State Associations, and alliance organizations who help extend HLAA’s mission into local communities. Here in Connecticut, I am a member of Hear Here Hartford-Team Listless, and HLAA Chapter, and on the board for the Collegiate Education of Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Interpreter Training Program and Deaf Studies. I am a former teacher and administrator at Soundbridge’s. Those are just some of the many wonderful agencies and alliances that support those with hearing loss our state.
I walk so my students, their families, my own family members, and friends with hearing loss, see that they have a support system and a community. I also walk to educate and to promote communication.
Did you know that one in seven Americans are living with some degree of hearing loss? Hearing is an important part of overall health and the Walk4Hearing calls on all of us to take action. By being active, engaged, and making hearing health a priority, people with hearing loss can live well. Let’s Hear Now and Be Well Together.
Walk with me in person or virtually! Please support our cause and help us educate, communicate, and support those with hearing loss!
