48 million people (1 out of 7) live with hearing loss in the United States. Individuals with this “invisible condition” often lack support and face obstacles as they struggle to communicate and stay engaged with family, friends, and co-workers. Hearing loss is a growing public health crisis that is often ignored in relation to overall health and fitness.
I am an adult with severe hearing loss. I understand the daily challenges and want to empower others as they learn to advocate for themselves and thrive in a hearing world. I am partnering with the HLAA and Walk4Hearing to raise funds for hearing care professionals, nonprofit organizations, and local business partners who support programs related to literacy and education, art and music, sports and fitness, emotional and physical wellbeing. These organizations provide aid in the form of technology, interpreters, scholarships, education, and medical care for any deaf or hard of hearing child or adult who needs a helping hand.
Please join me, June 3, 2023, at the Dunkin Donuts Stadium in Hartford, CT to Walk4Hearing. If you cannot come, please consider donating to my personal fundraising page. Thank you very much for supporting me in my mission to remove both the stigma around hearing loss and barriers to hearing health. I truly appreciate your generosity! Lisa
