HLAA has been influential in advising the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) on the over-the-counter hearing aids legislation for those with mild, perceived hearing loss. One can purchase a low cost hearing aid and customized it themselves without the cost of a hearing health care professional.

That is why I strongly support HLAA because of their advocacy for those with hearing loss. Hopefully, they can convince Congress to have Medicare cover the cost of hearing exams and aids. It is an ongoing effort.

If you have not noticed, places that sell low cost hearing aids have been very busy! More people than ever are seeking help and devices to hear better.
