Hi, My name’s Bailey Henninger! I was born in June of 2020. While I was in the hospital after I was born, I failed my newborn hearing screenings, twice. The doctors at the hospital told my Mama & Dada that they should take me to CHOP Chalfont to get an ABR test. The test was super easy, I just got to sleep right through it! After two of those tests, it looks like my right ear wasn’t hearing as well as it should. I was diagnosed with unilateral hearing loss. It was recommended that I see an ENT and get an MRI. So off we went! The MRI wasn’t much fun but I got to sleep through that one too! After the results came back I was diagnosed with Enlarged Vestibular Aqueducts (EVA) in both of my ears. It was recommended that I get a hearing aid for my right ear. I have a super cool pink hearing aid that I wear on a headband and I get to have a new mold made for my ear in fun colors every time I grow.
My parents have been learning ASL with a Teacher of the Deaf and I know a bunch of signs (my favorite lately is please!) and I am practicing my speech as well (I love to yell my puppy's name, Quill!). Since I have EVA in both of my ears, I’m being monitored by my awesome audiologist.
Thanks to all my family and friends who have been supportive of me and my parents, you guys really are my BESTIES!
