Hearing Loss Association of America’s friends and families are once again getting ready to join the DC Walk4Hearing at the National Harbor Saturday, October 15, 2023 starting 9 am.

Each year, I form a team to benefit the HLAA Montgomery County Maryland Chapter. Many friends, family and local Chapter members have been walking and making donations to the team for years. Thank you, supporters!

On October 15, 2023, the Montgomery County Chapter team, The Intrepid MC Maryland Trekkers will once again join other Metro DC walkers at the beautiful National Harbor. We’re looking forward to a great day.

You can be part of the team that will be raising funds for the HLAA Montgomery County Md Chapter and join us for the Walk at the National Harbor. Or you can simply sponsor my walk for the benefit of the MC, Md Chapter.

Funds from the Walk will help the HLAA Montgomery County, Md, Chapter continue providing our accessible educational meetings and social gatherings. This year we are excited to get back to in-person meetings! We are also support the installation of hearing loops and other assistive listening systems in local venues.

Funds raised will also help our national organization. HLAA this year will be advocated for new legislation for accessible technology: CVTA. We also advocate for and educate consumers about access to prescription and Over the Counter hearing aids and hearing health care, educate consumers about the US Department of Transportation's Airline Passengers with Disabilities Bill of Rights, and push for universal, user-controlled captioning on video conferencing platforms, including telehealth. These funds also help us work toward better captioning on TV and the internet, better quality captioned phone services and helps us reach the goal of seeing 100% of wireline and wireless phones that are hearing aid compatible.

In short, funds that go to the Walk help us advocate on a wide array of issues that make a difference in the day to day lives of people with hearing loss, both locally and nationally.
